Six Secrets to Advertising on Craigs List!
Here are Six Secrets to Advetising on Craigslist to make some Quick Cash with some Quick Sales:
1. Never give up too much in your craig’s list advertisement. What does that mean? What I mean is that you want your phone to ring or your email to get full with further questions or information about your craigslist item for sale. That way, you engage the prospective buyer in to a conversation and can build trust and a quick sale!
2. Always include a symbol sign or asterisks in your title to differentiate your listing from the oodles of other craigslist sellers out there! So for instance, here is a recent title I helped a client out in selling a $50,000 asset:
Note – that I used the “+” sign in front of the title – you could also use a “*” sign or “$” sign or generally any type of sign to make your title stand out from the others!
Here is the exact title I used in the advertise on craigs list posting:
+++ Steal my 2003 Damon Intruder RV Now – $10000 discount for 7 days!
Since no one else selling RV’s on craigslist was using any symbols in their listing, the above title stood out like a beacon!
3. Keep relisting your advertisement on craigs list every three days. You can re submit your posting on craigslist so it is wise to keep a ‘copy’ of your craigslist ad copy in a word document so all you have to do is simply cut and paste to repeat.
Also, don’t get discouraged if someone ‘flags’ your craig’s list advertisement and it gets removed. It is happening more often I noticed as more people are using Craigslist and frankly, it could very well be your ‘competition’ who is selling a similar item who ‘flagged’ your craigslist ad so that he/she has less competition to worry about. What that dunderhead simply doesn’t realize is that you just got the upper hand…as if you then go immediately into your account at craigslist, you can now ‘re-list’ or ‘re-submit’ your ad, and guess what – you are now at the TOP of the CATEGORY Listing again!
It causes a bit more work and as you can see, I always like to look at the ‘bright’ side of things or positive aspects of a situation and in this case, getting your craigslist ad flagged or removed is then actually a POSITIVE for you since you can now re submit rather than wait 3 days to re submit!
4. Use pictures and images in your craigslist advertisement but don’t ‘over do’ it! You still want your buying prospect to get ‘curious’ about your listing and contact you – so a smart ‘hook’ at the end of your craigslist posting is to include a “email me for more pictures” or “call me for more information“…something that encourages your buyer prospect to contact you.
Here is an example of an image I used for a client and as you can see, the ‘uniqueness’ of the photo draws attention:
5. Make your pictures say WOW by using a FREE, simple photo editing software called Google Picassa. It is very easy to ‘warmify’ a photo or to add sharper colors and since you only get the first few seconds to WOW a potential buyer…then you MUST use great photos!
6. Combine your Craigslist Ad with a FREE blog to advertise your stuff for sale! This will give you a double whammy in advertising on craigslist as you are allowed to link back to a website. You can just imagine the possibilities here now, you have a free, millions of people visiting Craig’s List, advertisement that can now link back to your personal or business website….hmmm…can we say $$$ KACHING $$$?
I’ve often done this to build a buyers list via Craigs List and also to provide bigger, higher resolution images of the object I am selling. Additionally, you can sell your consulting services via craigslist, announcing your services and to lead the potential buyer back to your flagship website.
